Megan and Oly’s Alice In Wonderland Wedding!

On Sunday 30th April 2017, we had the pleasure of hosting Megan and Oly’s Alice in Wonderland Wedding Extravaganza!

The couple chose a beautiful baby blue colour scheme to perfectly compliment their Alice theme, we loved seeing all the little details come together as we set up De Courceys Manor on the morning of their big day. There was also little hints of Wonderland running through the bouquets … can you spot the tiny tea cups and cards? Continue reading “Megan and Oly’s Alice In Wonderland Wedding!”

Our Wonderful Couples … Carly & Andy!

Good afternoon!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! 2016 was a phenomenal year for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed helping you all plan your big day. Congratulations to all of our fabulous couples who tied the knot in 2016!

Back in April, we had the privilege of hosting the beautiful wedding of Carly and Andy. As one of our favourite cake suppliers (the one and only Wish Upon A Cupcake!), we were delighted that they chose to spend their big day at the manor. It truly was a non-stop party from beginning to end, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house watching Carly walk down the aisle!

Today she shares with us her wedding planning experiences, alongside her gorgeous wedding pictures taken by her best friend, Leah Roberts!

Enjoy! xx Continue reading “Our Wonderful Couples … Carly & Andy!”

Hello, Pip from Rolfe’s!

Hello from all of us at De Courceys Manor!

This week we would like to introduce you to the lovely Pip Hill-John, the owner of Rolfe’s The Florist in Splott. Rolfe’s has been one of our recommended florists for many years, and they also provide the beautiful floral arrangements you see in our reception areas.

Pip and her team of 6 (Chantelle, Karin, Vicky, Victoria, Paul and Lorah) are available 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday from 8am until 5pm, for all your floral requirements. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter, and their website can be found here.

We chatted to Pip about her favourite and most memorable pieces of work, and also her predictions for floristry trends in 2017! Continue reading “Hello, Pip from Rolfe’s!”

Your new best friend!

Sometimes we all need a list in our life, and whether your big day is two years away or just around the corner, a carefully crafted schedule of your next steps is never far from reach.

Here at De Courceys Manor, we are most definitely a fan of a daily to-do. We wouldn’t dream of starting each day without scribbling some notes in our books, it’s a way of setting our goals for each day and feeling very organised for the weekend ahead. And naturally, there is something incredibly satisfying about crossing off each item on your list!

We put together our wedding checklist back in 2011, and it has become an essential tool for assisting couples plan their big day at the manor. It covers every part of your special day, from the cake delivery time, through to how many guests will be staying overnight in our wedding apartment.

The list is provided as part of your welcome pack once you book your big day with us, and we know many of you will start filling this up the moment you arrive home! The idea behind the checklist is that it gives you a comprehensive idea of what kind of information we will require from you during the final stages of your wedding planning. The final stages are usually the most stressful, and of course, we would like to be as helpful as possible!

We will contact you a few months before your big day is due to take place to confirm a convenient date and time for your final appointment – we are very flexible and are more than willing to work around you and your commitments. The appointment itself must take place no more than six weeks before your wedding day, and we politely ask that your checklist is completed and returned to us no later than one week before your appointment.

The reason why we ask for the checklist in advance is to ensure that your final appointment is as relaxed as possible, and we can begin organising your day before you arrive. This means more time for catching up on your plans, and discussing any queries you may have regarding your big day – and most importantly, you can focus on enjoying another trip to your dream wedding venue!

If you’ve just booked with us, or if you’re finalising the important details, we know our checklist will be your new best friend – you can find it here.

Right … we’re off to write our checklist for this week!

I have a question …

How did the bank holiday weekend creep up on us so quickly?! We’re very excited for this weekend’s wonderful weddings, and we know a lot of you will be filling up your extra day off with a bit of Wedmin!

We thought it would be very helpful to put together an FAQ list for our couples, covering everything from booking your first viewing with us, right through to breakfast the morning after.

We’ve made the list as comprehensive as possible, and we shall also be making the list available on our website within the next few weeks so you can refer back to it.

If there is anything else you can think of, please let us know and we can update the list.

So … grab a cuppa and enjoy!

We are here!!

abbie and rachOk so we got thinking about trying to write a blog that’s going to be helpful and (if possible)humorous for everyone out there planning their wedding.

We are Abbie (on the right)and Rachel (on the left), and have been part of wedding planning team De Courceys Manor, in South Wales since pretty much the beginning in 2010.

In the last 6 years we have seen the good, bad and the ugly…(weather that is), and feel that our experience officially gives us carte blanche to write this blog. From setting up a 5ft, white chocolate Italian wedding cake to serving pie and mash to well over 120 guests we feel that there is nothing we can’t do/achieve!

If you have any suggestions of what you would like to read next please feel free to post in our comments or email us at as we want to keep our content as helpful and relevant as possible.
